Winnebago County Jail Roster Overview
The official Winnebago County Jail inmate lookup is a PDF roster published from the sheriff's Corrections Division page. The captured current list was titled "Winnebago County Jail Current Inmate List, by Name" and showed a run date. It listed InmateID, name, sex, judicial status, and initial booking. It did not show charges, bond, housing unit, court date, or mugshot. For charges and arresting agency on recent events, the 24-hour jail media blotter is the stronger public source.
The roster should be read as a custody census. It tells whether someone appears in the Winnebago County Jail population at the time of the run. It does not prove a conviction, and it does not cover people who have already transferred to a Wisconsin DOC prison. If someone was sentenced to prison, use the state DOC locator. If the person may be a federal prisoner or immigration detainee, use the BOP or ICE tools instead of the county PDF.
Search the Winnebago County Roster
Use the official Corrections Division page first. It links the current inmate list and jail media blotter. The roster is sorted by name, so a PDF search by last name works well when the spelling is known. When the spelling is uncertain, search a shorter name fragment and then verify the row with the booking date and other visible fields.
- Open the Corrections page and choose the current inmate list PDF.
- Check the run date at the top of the PDF.
- Use the PDF viewer's find box for the last name or a distinctive name fragment.
- Compare the InmateID, full name, sex, judicial status, and initial booking time.
- Open the jail media blotter if the arrest or release may have happened in the most recent 24-hour reporting window.
- Call the jail information line when the PDFs do not resolve the custody question.
The jail information line listed in the research is 920-236-7380. The sheriff's main non-emergency numbers are 920-236-7300 and 920-727-2888. Those phone channels matter because a PDF can lag behind intake, release, court, or transfer activity.
Winnebago County Roster Search Fields
The county's public roster does not have an official search form. The "fields" are the PDF columns, plus the browser or PDF find control. The table below follows the research inventory and keeps the difference between the current list and the media blotter clear.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| InmateID | PDF column | n/a | Numeric county jail identifier for the row. |
| Name | PDF column | n/a | Displayed last name first on the current list. |
| Sex | PDF column | n/a | Observed values include M and F. |
| Jud. Status | PDF column | n/a | Observed labels include PRETRIAL, SENTENCED, REVOCATION, PROBATION, HOLD/DETAIN, ES SANCTIONS, and PRESENTENCED. |
| Initial Booking | PDF column | n/a | Date and time for the current custody stay. |
| Search box | PDF viewer tool | optional | Use Ctrl+F or mobile PDF search. The county PDF has no search button. |
Winnebago County Inmate Record Fields
Winnebago County has two public jail views. The current inmate list is lean and custody-focused. The media blotter is event-focused and gives more detail for bookings and releases during the 24-hour period it covers. Neither captured county PDF displayed mugshots, and neither should be described as a full case file.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| InmateID | Local jail identifier on the current list. |
| Name | Full name in roster order. |
| Judicial status | Custody status label, not final case disposition. |
| Initial booking | First booking date/time for the custody stay. |
| Charges | Not on current list; shown in the media blotter for recent events. |
| Bond | Not displayed in the inspected public jail PDFs. |
| Mugshot | Not displayed on the current list or media blotter. |
| Court date | Not displayed; use Clerk of Courts or WCCA. |
The official Winnebago County Sheriff's Office homepage links the jail inmate list, jail blotter, records, annual reports, VINELink, and inmate-account resources.
That sheriff page is useful when a direct PDF link fails or when a reader needs to move from custody lookup to records, notifications, or jail services.
Winnebago County Booking Blotter
The jail media blotter is a separate official report. It is titled as a 24-hour booking and release record and can show details not found in the current list: DOB, charge statute, charge name, hold type, type of arrest, release reason, arresting agency, complaint number, and arrest date. This makes it the better place to check when a person was booked or released recently, or when the current list confirms custody but does not explain the arrest event.
| Blotter Field | Use |
|---|---|
| Charge(s) | Initial booking or hold detail, not the final court charge. |
| Arresting Agency | Can show WISO, WCJ, OSPD, NEPD, DOC, or another agency code. |
| Comp# | Complaint or agency number when listed. |
| Reason for Release | Release note if the person was released during the report window. |
Booking charge and court charge are not the same thing. Prosecutors can file different charges after review. For court records after a jail arrest, use Winnebago County court records after jail arrest and WCCA.
Winnebago County Inmate Access Channels
A complete custody check uses more than one channel. The roster may answer current local custody, but it will not handle every case. People can be released, transferred, sentenced to prison, held for another county, moved under a probation or revocation authority, or held in a federal or immigration process.
- County roster: current Winnebago County Jail custody.
- Jail information line: custody questions when PDFs do not answer the issue.
- NextRequest: sheriff-held public records that are not posted in the PDFs.
- WCCA: filed court charges, hearings, bond orders, dispositions, and judgments.
- Wisconsin DOC locator: sentenced state prison or supervision records.
- BOP and ICE: federal prison or immigration custody.
- Wisconsin VINE: custody and case notifications.
No app-only roster: The research did not locate an official Winnebago County, Wisconsin sheriff app with a separate inmate roster, warrant search, or mugshot lookup.
Request Winnebago County Jail Records
The Sheriff's Records Division processes requests for police reports and other official documents for which the Sheriff's Office is the legal custodian. The county points requesters to the NextRequest public portal as the most efficient and timely route. The portal is available around the clock, but it can provide only sheriff records. If another police department made the arrest, that agency may control some records.
When requesting a jail record, include the full name, date of birth if known, booking date, arresting agency, complaint number if listed, and the specific record being requested. Avoid broad requests when the goal is a booking sheet, incident report, booking photograph, or release record. Wisconsin public-records law favors access, but records can still be withheld or redacted when a legal limit applies.
Winnebago County Jail Visits
Winnebago County Jail visitation is video-only in the captured jail FAQ. Visits are scheduled through GettingOut, and the inmate is responsible for setting up the visitor list and scheduling visits after classification. Jail staff does not pass messages to inmates and does not give visiting information to callers because of inmate and visitor privacy.
| Visit Type | Schedule / Vendor | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| County jail video visitation | GettingOut | All social visitation is video-only in the captured county source. |
| In-person social visits | Not offered in captured source | Do not go to the lobby expecting a social visit. |
| Visitor list | Managed by inmate | Visitor name, date of birth, address, and phone are needed. |
| Classification | Facility process | Visit access depends on inmate security classification. |
Winnebago County Bond and Money
Bond payments at Winnebago County Jail must be made in person. The county says online and phone bond payments are not accepted. A valid photo ID is required. Accepted bond payment forms are cashier's checks, exact-change cash, and credit or debit cards. Credit and debit card bond payments carry an 8.5% PayGOV.us convenience fee, and the cardholder must be present. Money orders are not accepted for bonds or fines.
| Service | Method | Key Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Commissary funds | Lobby window | Cashier's checks or money orders only for inmate accounts. |
| Deposit kiosk | Lobby kiosk | Visa/MasterCard and cash; fees apply. |
| Online deposits | Access Corrections | Uses Visa/MasterCard; fees apply. |
| Care packages | iCare / ARAMARK | Requires inmate ID and card payment. |
| Telephone | IC Solutions | Provider for inmate telephone accounts and support. |
Winnebago County DOC and Federal Lookup
Use the Wisconsin DOC locator when a person has moved from county jail to state prison. DOC's own general information says county jails are separately administered, so someone missing from the DOC locator may still be in a city or county jail. In Winnebago County, the state-facility list includes Oshkosh Correctional Institution, Drug Abuse Correctional Center, Winnebago Correctional Center, and Wisconsin Resource Center. Each is separate from the sheriff's jail roster.
For federal custody, the BOP inmate locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to present. It is not a county jail search. Federal pretrial detainees may be housed in local facilities through the U.S. Marshals Service and may not appear in BOP's post-sentence locator. For immigration custody, the ICE Online Detainee Locator uses A-number or biographic searches and does not publish a county jail roster.
Wisconsin VINE is useful for notifications, not for complete jail records. It can help with release or transfer alerts when the person or case is covered by the notification system.
